We have only processed four turkeys, the other five are waiting to be taken to the local slaughter house. Hunting Season is upon us and understandably the hunter doesn't want to spend his free time elbow deep in turkey. Mom and I are taking them in November while Dad is at work and Jason is hunting. Dad asked if there would be someone there to help us ladies unload. The man on the other end responded: "Are there attachment issues? Sometimes people have a hard time letting their turkeys go." Not to worry, we are looking forward to eating one of these beauties!
The pear trees are done, found someone strong enough to climb up and shake them down. Sent the cat up recently to get the last pear down, but she didn't understand. Thought I sent her up there to cut some teeth!
This is the look of deep concentration: "Don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it." |
We are waiting for our fruit trees to ripen for the season...but we live in the San Francisco Bay area so it's a different climate. Also, we don't have pear trees. We have a fully matured orange tree (and I'm seeing some lighter shades of green finally - probably won't have anything until mid-late December). We also have a baby Meyer's lemon tree. It's only a couple years old (we got it from our realtor when we moved in this past February). It will have plenty of lemons if we can keep Little Man away from it long enough. He pulled 18 baby lemons off the tree last week and lined them up on the sidewalk. He was very proud of himself. ::sigh:: The silly thing is, even with those 18 missing (and the other 10 or so he's pulled off over the last year), there are still plenty of lemons growing on the tree. We just need to figure out how to keep me away from them for a few more months..
