A Shrug and a Cow

My Mom requested a shawl or a shrug. Her specifications were: had to come off and on easy, needed to be a neutral color, and it needed to have some sort of sleeve. I wanted to make a more fitted sweater, but that is not what she wanted. The pattern is from my head. I made three shrugs for my brides maids so I decided to wing it. I cast on and got started and then realized that I hadn't cast on enough. Not to worry I finished the ribbed sleeve and then doubled my stitches and increased my needle size and I think I'm doing all right. Time will tell if I am right or not. Tonight I have to rip out a row, I was knitting tired and I jumped ahead in the pattern a little bit.

Jenna's cow is coming a long. I have one whole side done and I'm working on the second side. It is a pain to knit. I have to be so careful what I am doing or I get all mixed up! I am rising to the challenge and I will get this thing knit! I think it it going to look great/

Cow & Shawl

I have finished one whole side of the cow and I started the other side. It's a lot of work! Not really what I would call enjoyable. I am hoping to get it done before June 11 which is when Jenna graduates, we'll see.

I also started a shawl/shrug for my Mom. I'm not working with a pattern. I am hoping that it will be big enough! I'll post pictures maybe tomorrow. The camera is in the car and the car is at work with Jason!

Vest and Cow

Katrina's vest is done! It was a joy to knit. The instructions were easy to follow (after I found the correction) and the vest easy to construct. I would do this one again.

Now on to my sister-in laws cow. She has chosen an orange cow with pink spots!

Jenna's Yarn

Yesterday I went out with my brother and sister to pick up some more yarn. I bought this beautiful orange and pink yarn for my sister-in-law, Jenna. I am going to knit her a cow from one of the many knitting books I have. She picked the yarn colors! I can't wait to get it started. I just started the hood of the hoodie I'm making for Katrina. I should be done before May!

Fire Marshal

The Fire Marshal stopped by last week to inspect us. We need to change a window in the bedroom, install some hard wired smoke detectors, and put up a handrail.

I've really been surprised at how fast DHHS has been working. All the people we put in for references received their paper work the Friday of the week that we sent our application in.

We start out 24hr of Foster Care training on May 25th.

I think that by (or before) September we should have a munchkin living with us!

Work in Progress

So here is what I've got done so far. I'm probably a quarter done. It's been pretty easy so far, the challenging parts are coming!

Foster Care Meeting

Tomorrow is our first of many meetings/classes to become Foster Parents. We are so excited! A friend told us that they are very negative, probably so that you have a true sense of what it is like.

I just finished reading Another Place at the Table. Its an autobiography of a Foster Mom and she doesn't pull any punches. She tells it just like it happened to her in all it's gritty truth. It was a good read and a page turner. Even despite all the awful things she experience being a Foster Mom and all the horrible things she exposed her kids to inadvertently she remains positive.

Jason is going to read it next.

Camp Hoodie

Finally bought the yarn in the right colors to start my sisters Camp Hoodie from Spud & Chloe. I wish that I could be using their yarn since their colors are so vibrant and wonderful, but I had to settle on Lion Brand Vanna's Choice. This under taking is going to take awhile. It starts out by casting on 186 stitches the most I've ever had on my needles before. I am excited for the challenge.

Round 5 with Clomid

Taking an ovulation predictor kit this time around.

Maybe I'll ovulate?
