Only 2 Slots left

The toddler size for my pattern is 95% done. All I need are a few construction photo's and it's good to go! I am so excited!

I have 3 definite test knitters. I think I'd like to have at least 3 different people test the toddler and men's size each. I'm still looking for a few more testers!

Flannel Hat Update

I wrote the pattern for this hat.

This fair isle or stranded hat is knit in the round on size 7 circular needles. When the hat is finished stitches are picked up along the edge to make ear-flaps. You will also need to know how to sew a little for the edge. If you desired to you could sew in some flannel or fur for inside the hat.

The pattern is written out with a chart for reference.

I currently only have one size right now but I hope to get a second size written in the next week.

I am looking for 5 test knitters. Everyone who knits the hat and comments on the pattern will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate of $10.00 to WEBS which should be just enough to get skein or two of yarn and get it shipped to your house.

My goal is to have the hat pattern and two sizes (toddler & adult) done by the end of February, if not sooner.

If you are interested in being one of my test knitters please comment.

Knitting A Thing for My Brother

For my brother's 21st Birthday I told him I'd knit him something. Of course now I am struck with a dilema. I thought I'd make some socks, but maybe he'd like something else? There aren't a lot of things that Men like to wear that I can knit. So, what to make?
fingerless mitts
Something to wear while he drives, plays airsoft, or has epic Halo battles?
socks
Something for his toes when he's relaxing in front of the TV and/or Computer?
hat
Something for his noggin to keep his thoughts escaping in the cold?

Yoda
Minions
Or

Maybe something a little foolish to remind him that his sister loves him very much.

Carseat Mittens

I made the little man some mittens for the car. He doesn't like not having access to his fingers so I thought and hope these will work. I believe they will fit part of next year too. Both the hat and the mittens are a wee bit big, but look super cute!

Flannel Hat

I've been working on a very exciting project. I am designing a men's hat pattern that I hope to sell. My inspiration are the manly flannel shirts that are often found in my father's closet. The first version I am knitting up is a child's size. The hat will have earflaps when I am finished with it and potentially some furry stuff on the inside. I haven't quite decided how I will finish it yet. The lighting in the photo's aren't that great (it's overcast and snowy today) I hope to have the body of the hat finished this week.

If you are interested in test knitting this pattern for me let me know!

Mindless Knitting

Yesterday after finishing the mittens I decided I needed to do something mindless. My son needed a hat so I said to myself "Self, knit your son a hat."

I used size 8 needles and DK/Sport Weight/size 3 yarn and CO 72 stitches. I stopped at 6 inches because I was bored and worked the decreases. I used the decreases from this pattern by shizknit because it is an 8 stitch repeat   (The decreases are in increments of 8 stitches *k2, p2, k2, p2tog*) with a 2x2 rib, my other favorite decrease for a ribbed hat is Spud and Chloe's and it is a 6 stitch repeat
(The decreases are worked in increments of 6 stitches *k2,
p1,
k1,
p2tog*) with a 2x1 rib.

In encourage you to grab your favorite size needles, some soft squishy yarn, set up a gauge swatch and cast on!

The Finisher

I am feeling so accomplished today. I finished three projects this week! I just finished the thumb in the mitts I have been working on for months.

I liked the pattern for the mitt (should have trusted it) even though I did mess up on the decreases because I didn't trust the pattern (I know better!) The second mitten is longer than the first because I knit it looser the second time around. It is also wider because I added a few stitches (which I am glad I did).

I didn't do the pattern on the back side of the mitt, because I needed something mindless to do and following an intricate pattern on both sides drove me nuts.

If I were to make another pair I would use to very contrasting yarns. The yarns I used are too close in color and it's hard to see the design.

I wouldn't do this style of mitten again. Not because the pattern was hard to follow, because it was clear and easy, but because I don't like the way the finished result looks.

2 Hats

Finally finished the Christmas order for my cousin. Took me long enough! *sigh* I am happy with the results even though I missed two rows of the pattern. I forgot to put in two stripes. I think though, that it looks just fine with out the stripes. With any luck my little cousins will feel the same! Both hats have some of our Grandmother's yarn in it. The purple is from a skein I found in her stash.

Knitting Day

I am so excited for tomorrow. Jason is going to take the baby for a visit at his Mom's and leave me alone in the house with: Netfix on the Wii, my knitting needles, a bunch of yarn, and some hats to finish! I can't wait!

New Page

I added a new page to make finding the Free Patterns I've posted a little easier to find.

If I ever get to the end of my current projects I think I will try to make another Loopy Hat, I had forgotten about that pattern!
