Anniversary

May 30, 2001
I mean..
May 31, 2008

I cannot believe that it's been four years! I'm going to do my best to not get too sappy and cliche, but boy do I love this man! Many women say that their husband is their best friend, and it's true. Who else can I rattle on and on and on about my knitting to with out them rolling their eyes and interrupting? Who else would support all my crazy ideas, no matter how silly they are to him? Who else would travel around back roads with me just to see what is out there? Who else would stop the truck and turn around to check something out?

For Christmas his parents gave us a gift certificate to Adventure Suites in N.Conway, NH. We paid for an extra night and stayed two days. We had a great time. We did a lot of shopping, a lot of driving, a lot of eating, a lot of snuggling, a lot of time in a bubbly bath, a lot of reconnecting and relaxing together.

We started out in this room aptly named "The Love Shack". Jason got us some champagne, chocolate, and bubbles for the bath..JOY! To quote a kids book here at daycare: "I'll relax and forget all my troubles. I'll take a hot bath and fill it with bubbles."
The bed was a water bed..I'm not sure if it was the water bed, the shoes I wore for a few hours, the champagne, or the 30min soak in the hot tub but about 3am I woke to two charlie horses. Two! The pain was so bad I nearly screamed. We politely asked for a new room and were given one named "The Love Nest". If you ever get a chance to stay at this hotel do stay! They have big rooms and small rooms and ones in between. All the themes are so over-the-top that they are amazing! They are currently under construction, but not once did we hear a hammer, Jason did hear our neighbors at about 2 in the morning though, he suggested that they insulate a bit more during their construction.

Sorry Ladies, he's taken
On the way home we stopped at Glen Ellis Falls. We didn't get a chance to go up Mt Washington since the fog was so thick we had to use headlights. Instead we stopped at a covered bridge and at the falls. It was a nice walk down, and a lot of stairs up. It was well worth the walk in the fog and mist to see the falls.

Yarn Along

I've joined a test knit for a fabulous sweater for Stomper. The sweater will be too big, but he will wear it anyway! It's a size 4 and Stomper is only in a 2T so it will fit for years! I haven't knit something this big since I made my sister a vest a couple of years ago. Yesterday I was sitting at my sisters awards ceremony for the tech center she attends and I was merrily knitting away. Lo and behold! A major mistake in the cable, nothing I could hide cleverly! I had to frog several inches.

My parents gave the hubby and I "For Women Only" and "For Men Only" for our anniversary so I've been reading that. It is interesting, there is a few things in it that I wasn't aware of in men, nothing earth shattering, at least not yet and I'm half way through.

Joining Ginny, you should too!

Littlest Pet

Today Jason came home with a box of broilers.

In the box was a pet for me!

Can you spot the difference?

The slightly brown chick has feathers on its feet, I wonder what it will turn out to be?

Chicks and Ducks

Previous Photos Courtesy of K.Sloma

On chick arrival day we called the feed store to see if they had arrived. We were told, yes the chicks had, but not the ducks. The ducks, they said, would arrive the next day. No big deal.We brought our little peeping box home, dipped their beaks in water (probably not necessary since they were all drinking water at the feed store), checked their vents, and then did a quick count. Wait, 1..2..3..14? we were missing one. No big deal, what's one chicken.

The next day the feed store called to tell us that the ducks had arrived. But he was not a happy guy. Apparently where ever they got their ducks from took too long sending them and many had perished. However, the Peking's looked good. We picked up our four fluffy yellow Peking's and hoped for the best.

Three days later and we are in love! We have named two chicks one is "Twig" s/he had deformed feet. I went and checked some chicken forums and it seems that crooked feet is hereditary. As long as the chick is walking/running, eating, and not being pecked to death than all is well. Worse case scenario, we eat her. The other chick is "Piglet" and Little Sister said it will be the smallest, which ever on that turns out to be.

Gnome Knot (aka Stompers Winter Hat)

The pattern for this hat is ready! I finally got a hat with a moose on it. However, it was a lot of duplicate stitching and the hat no longer has any "give" to it making it good for one year, but not two. However, the original hat will fit probably until he is three. I tried it on the daycare kiddos and it even fit the first graders, so maybe he'll be wearing it until then?

It is a quick and gratifying knit, and with the color changes it isn't even a boring knit. I am not the sort of person who likes to take a long time at things. I like quick and noticeable progress. This hat is perfect for that.

Last night I posted the hat for some pattern testing on ravelry. If you are interested in being a test knitter check out the thread here.

You can check out my original post about the hat if you'd like.
